Ice - II
The annual Hocking Hills Winter Hike in mid-January is a great motivator to get out of the house, put on the boots and take in some fresh air. And for 2007, the weather was beautiful for a mid-winter’s day, so there was no excuse.
The six-mile hike begins at Old Man’s Cave, winds through the cliffs, forests and streambeds of the state park and ends at Ash Cave. Midway, at Cedar Falls, hikers are treated to bean soup, hot chocolate and corn muffins.
An added bonus throughout the hike: the frozen water over the rocks provided for a great photo opportunity. I chose black & white for this photo because of the deep shadows that contrast with the white ice.
