Hummer on Zinnia
Whenever I was in town in late July and August, I would head over to Inniswood Metro Gardens. In what began as a casual attempt to photograph hummingbirds evolved into The Hummingbird Project lasting 3 weeks.
My portfolio lacked some good images of hummingbirds, so I thought I’d take advantage of the cutting garden, which was in full bloom. As it turned out, the ruby-throated hummers would frequent the beds in search of nectar and insects, darting in and out on their feeding rounds. I couldn’t believe my good fortune! They seemed to pose for me at times. And on occasion they would hover right in front of me as if to wonder what this person was so interested in. What an experience. Thanks for the show!
