Caught Me by Surprise
In all my trips to the Tetons and Jackson Hole over the years I had never seen so many bears wandering around the park. Unbeknownst to me, I passed this black bear about 20 minutes earlier when I walked along the ridge to photograph some waxwings. As I was heading back, there she was; and me without bear spray. Fortunately, she was much more interested in fattening up for the impending winter on this October day, going from hawthorn tree to hawthorn tree, stripping the sugar-laden berries from the limbs. What an experience. Thanks for the show!
