The forces of nature have carved the soft, red sandstone of the Colorado Plateau into stunning shapes and curves. The resulting slot canyons vary in size from large, cavernous rooms to narrow passageways just barely wide enough to hike through.
The curves, striations of the sandstone and the orange/red colors provide for fantastic photo opportunities.

This particular image was made in the Upper Antelope Canyon found on the Navajo Nation. Following a brief hike through large, cavernous “rooms”, my guide took me aside to this smaller area within the canyon. His knowledge of the area and the track of the sun were a key benefit. The beautiful shaft of light shown here is only seen for a couple of minutes each day for a few days throughout the year.
