October in the Tetons . . . the sky to the west was shrouded in clouds . . . a beautiful dark, periwinkle color. To the east, the sky was cloudless, welcoming a brilliant sunrise. Driving up to Oxbow Bend from Jackson Hole, the morning sun lit up the aspen grove as if it was on fire. I just had to stop. Although a color edition of the scene was pretty, the contrasts between the dark sky and the golden leaves provided for an ideal black and white image.
